Role: Key Stage 2 (KS2) 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity in Barnsley?

We are seeking a dedicated KS2 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil within Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and achieve their full potential.

The RoleAs a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide tailored support for an individual pupil. You will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where the pupil feels safe, supported and encouraged to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil throughout the school day.
• Supporting learning activities and adapting tasks to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and social development.
• Helping the pupil engage with classroom activities and build confidence.
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other members of staff.
• Promoting the pupil’s wellbeing, inclusion and personal development.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within KS2.
• Is patient, nurturing and understanding of individual learning needs.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Is proactive, adaptable and confident working independently and as part of a team.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Previous experience supporting pupils with additional needs would be advantageous, although a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting children are essential.
