We’re looking for an experienced CNC Turner to join a manufacturing team in Portsmouth. This is a hands-on role focused on setting and operating CNC lathes, producing precision components and maintaining quality throughout the machining process.

You’ll need to be confident setting machines independently, working from engineering drawings and making basic programme edits when needed. Full programming from scratch is not required, making this a good fit for an experienced setter/operator who can keep production running efficiently.

Day-to-day responsibilities of a CNC Turner

• Set and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls.
• Carry out machine set-ups, tool changes and offset adjustments.
• Make minor programme edits where required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Machine components to the required dimensions and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring equipment to check component quality.
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process checks.
• Monitor machining performance and adjust settings where necessary.
• Complete production and quality documentation.
• Maintain safe working practices and good housekeeping.
• Work with the wider production team to meet output and delivery requirements.

What they’re looking for: CNC Turner

• Previous experience as a CNC Turner or CNC Setter.
• Strong working knowledge of Fanuc controls.
• Ability to set CNC lathes independently.
• Confidence making basic programme edits.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment and checking tolerances.
• A practical understanding of quality requirements within a manufacturing environment.

Desirable: CNC Turner

• Experience machining precision components.
• Exposure to other CNC controls or machining processes.
• Experience in aerospace, defence or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with a range of engineering materials.
