Community & Environmental Services Manager (Interim)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to take responsibility for a diverse portfolio of community and environmental services within a forward-thinking local authority in the West Midlands.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for Environmental Health, Licensing, Waste and Environmental Services, Corporate Health & Safety, Emergency Planning and Business Continuity. You will provide both strategic direction and operational oversight, ensuring services remain high-performing, financially sustainable and focused on delivering excellent outcomes for residents, businesses and communities.

Working closely with elected members, senior officers and external partners, you will lead large multidisciplinary teams, manage significant budgets and contracts, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of services. A strong emphasis will be placed on driving transformation, identifying efficiencies, embracing technology and delivering continuous improvement across the portfolio.

The successful candidate will be an influential leader with the ability to build high-performing teams, manage complex stakeholder relationships and operate confidently within a political environment. You will bring commercial acumen, experience of contract and performance management, and a proven track record of delivering service improvement and organisational change.

Contract: Fixed-Term Contract (£53,051 - £56,293) or Interim Agency Assignment (Competitive Daily Rate)
