About the Teaching Assistant Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will help pupils develop their skills, build confidence, and make progress in their learning. You will also work closely with teachers to support classroom activities and meet pupils’ individual needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils understand their lessons.
• Preparing lesson materials and classroom resources alongside teachers.
• Giving pupils constructive feedback to encourage progress and build confidence.
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Supporting classroom organisation and helping teachers manage behaviour.
• Working with teachers and other staff to meet pupils’ learning needs.

Requirements for Teaching Assistant Jobs

To succeed in these roles, you should have:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational setting.
• An enhanced DBS certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A good understanding of the school curriculum.
