About the role
We are looking for a group of exceptional people to help with the future development of Inclusion at Manor Church of England Academy, York. Manor has a proud history, having served the young people of York for over 210 years. We are a Church of England academy and our Christian values guide, influence and underpin all that we do. We are part of Heartwood Learning Trust, a growing family of schools working together to transform education within York, Hull and North Yorkshire.
Inclusion has recently been graded as a “strong standard” within the school by Ofsted in May 2026. Senior leaders are now looking to re-structure the support offered to vulnerable learners, in order to further improve every young person's ability and experience to access the curriculum, improve attendance in school and enhance the future aspirations and POST 16 destinations.
In this role, you won't just assist, you will lead and take ownership of a specialist area to drive real success for our children. You will take accountability for overseeing a specific area of SEND interventions matched to your skills, interests and the needs of our students (full specialist training provided). You will be required to act as a champion for a designated group of SEND and disadvantaged children, relentlessly promoting good attendance, active engagement, and well-being. You will be required to plan, deliver, and evaluate high-impact, targeted intervention sessions that empower students to succeed across all areas of the curriculum. The vast majority of sessions are driven via pre-prepared resources, therefore familiarisation of platforms and textbooks ready for delivery will be key to success. It is essential that the correct candidate has a good level of IT skills so that student progress can be tracked and monitored, alongside good communication skills in order to build strong relationships between a variety of different stakeholders and children themselves. If you love a challenge, actively seek solutions, and relentlessly find ways for children to participate fully in school life, then we want to hear from you! We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about helping every child succeed and flourish
Brings creativity, patience and positivity to the classroom
Values strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
Is a team player who contributes to the wider life of the school
Can confidently deliver intervention sessions to individuals and small groups of children, across the four broad areas of need
What we can offer:
Experienced and supportive School Leadership Team
Opportunities for staff to develop through Continuous Professional Development
Local Government Pension scheme
Occupational Health
Employee Assistance Programme
Cycle to work scheme
Free on site Parking
