This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly technical environment, contributing directly to process optimisation, product quality, yield improvement and operational performance.
The Role
As Process Engineering Technician, you will provide hands-on technical and engineering support across semiconductor fabrication and testing operations.
Working on a shift-based pattern, you will be responsible for troubleshooting manufacturing issues, investigating process deviations and implementing improvements to enhance production efficiency and product performance.
You will also support engineering development activities, ensuring effective communication between shifts and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and process engineering support across semiconductor fabrication and testing operations.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve manufacturing process issues, including wafer testing and production-related challenges.
- Respond to out-of-control process events, implementing appropriate containment and corrective actions.
- Monitor process performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, product yield and manufacturing costs.
- Support the development, introduction and optimisation of new manufacturing processes and products.
- Work closely with Production Supervisors, Engineers and fellow Technicians to ensure operational priorities are effectively managed.
- Analyse process variations and understand their impact on product quality and performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on process stability, yield enhancement and operational reliability.
- Support training and technical development of Production Operators and fellow Technicians.
- Maintain accurate process records, technical reports and performance information.
- Ensure effective communication and handovers between shifts to maintain continuity of engineering activities.
- Collaborate with Process, Device and Yield Engineers to support process improvement and product development.
- Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture in line with company procedures and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Support the successful transfer of new processes into production, ensuring operational performance and yield targets are achieved.
We are keen to hear from technically minded individuals with experience in manufacturing who enjoy problem-solving, process improvement and working within a fast-paced production environment.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- Previous experience working within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
- An understanding of scientific experimentation and process investigation methods.
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication equipment within at least one technical discipline.
- The ability to investigate technical issues and implement practical solutions.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams.
- A proactive, methodical approach with the ability to work independently when required.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Essential:
- Minimum ONC qualification or equivalent in a relevant technical or scientific discipline, such as Electronics, Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science.
- HNC qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
Although not essential, the following experience would be advantageous:
- More than four years' experience within semiconductor fabrication or manufacturing.
- Broad knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques.
- Experience supporting medium- to long-term engineering projects.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and historical process data.
- Understanding of scientific experimentation and process development methodologies.
- Knowledge of solid-state physics and electronic engineering principles.
- Experience or technical knowledge of GaAs and/or GaN pHEMT technologies.
