Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Power Generation company to recruit a Civil Works Project Manager to join an Energy from Waste project in the Victoria / Melbourne area, in Australia. The Civil Works Project Manager role comes with a starting salary of up to £90,000 GBP + benefits including bonus

Responsibilities and duties of the Civil Works Project Manager role

Reporting to the Senior Leadership you will:

• Lead the planning and delivery of the civil works package throughout the tendering and project execution phases.
• Define project scope, work breakdown structures, design requirements and division of work.
• Develop and manage project schedules, procurement plans and key construction milestones.
• Manage civil project budgets, cost forecasting and financial reporting, investigating variances and implementing corrective actions where required.
• Lead civil subcontractor prequalification, tender evaluations, commercial negotiations and contract administration.
• Prepare and review bills of quantities, subcontract agreements and commercial tender documentation.
• Manage change control, variations and claims to protect project costs and contractual positions.
• Oversee site construction activities, ensuring earthworks, heavy foundations and reinforced concrete structures meet design and constructability requirements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, addressing risks and stopping unsafe work where necessary.
• Coordinate civil works with mechanical, electrical and other project teams, maintaining effective communication with site management, contractors and stakeholders.

Professional qualifications

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Civil Project Manager, Civil Construction Manager or EPC Project Manager on major industrial construction projects.
• Strong experience delivering civil works packages involving earthworks, heavy foundations and reinforced concrete structures.
• Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors, commercial negotiations, tender evaluations, cost control and contract administration.
• A sound understanding of construction safety requirements, with a valid White Card and relevant site safety qualifications or equivalent credentials.
