The role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. You’ll work closely with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders, combining technical expertise with strong project management and commercial awareness.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead your own projects, contribute to the development of the Liverpool team and support junior colleagues as they progress in their careers.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys remaining involved in the technical detail while taking responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and the successful development of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, approvals and construction.
- Developing effective working relationships with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and other project stakeholders.
- Preparing and coordinating highway, drainage and infrastructure designs, ensuring they are technically robust, commercially viable and practical to deliver.
- Working with relevant highway and drainage adoption processes, including Section 278, Section 38, Section 185 and Section 104 agreements.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Supporting, mentoring and sharing your knowledge with junior engineers.
You’ll be an experienced civil engineer who combines sound technical knowledge with a proactive, commercially minded approach. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, building strong client relationships and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- At least six years’ experience in a UK civil engineering design consultancy, with experience across a range of sectors and, in particular, residential development.
- Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure design, including highways and drainage.
- Experience with Section 278, Section 38, Section 185 and Section 104 agreements.
- Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, WinDes or equivalent packages.
- Experience in client liaison, project coordination and managing project deliverables, with a good understanding of commercial considerations.
- A hands-on approach and a genuine interest in remaining involved in design, project management and delivery.
- Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.
- The ability and enthusiasm to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
Why join?
- Competitive salary: £40,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience, with scope to discuss this with the right candidate.
