About the role

Project Support Officer

We have Fixed Term / Secondment and Permanent opportunities available. As per the Fixed Term Contacts Policy - Where individuals with continuous service within the NHS apply for fixed-term contract roles, PSD Scotland reserves the right to refuse any such appointment.

On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

About the Organisation:
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Post:
PSD Scotland, Programme Management Services (PgMS) is looking for a number of experienced Project Support Officers to support delivery of a range of initiatives across Scotland. Our portfolio of initiatives is unique, challenging and exciting.

PgMS are transformation specialists, a total solution provider and strategic partner for NHS Scotland’s health and social care. We develop partnerships with our customers, providing insight into the health and social care landscape in Scotland to meet their needs.

PgMS is one of the largest and fastest growing centres of excellence in portfolio, programme and project management. Our teams are supporting a diverse range of exciting initiatives in Scotland, reshaping and transforming services across the NHS and the wider public sector.

Our diverse portfolios of programmes and projects deliver strategic change, establish new services, and develop new ways of working. The demand for our specialist services has never been higher so we would like to grow our team of experts.

The Candidate:
We are looking for professional, self-motivated and highly organised candidates with recent experience in a project office or project support environment. You will have a proven track record in project coordination or business support, together with practical experience of using recognised project management methods and techniques to support the planning, monitoring and control of delivery.

You will be an effective communicator, confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and able to prioritise and manage competing demands. Adaptable and resilient, you will thrive in a busy and changing environment while maintaining attention to detail and consistently high standards.

You will bring an understanding of project management principles and practices, a proactive approach to workload management and problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting successful change. If you are ready to make a difference and join a team delivering meaningful transformation across Scotland, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Location and Working Pattern:
Can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Dundee. Currently hybrid working.

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post in which you will be employed.

PSD Scotland is a remote-friendly employer with colleagues based throughout Scotland. We support hybrid and office-based working arrangements where possible and welcome discussions about alternative working patterns during the application process.
