About the role
Behaviour Mentor – Alternative Provision
Bexley, South East London | Full-Time | Monday to Friday
Are you passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to education, develop positive behaviour and re-engage with learning?
Pink Tile Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils aged 5–16 at an alternative provision academy in Bexley.
The academy supports pupils who may have been permanently excluded from mainstream school or have medical, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs that make mainstream education challenging. This role would suit someone who is resilient, patient and confident supporting pupils with behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation and engagement in education.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils aged 5–16.
Help pupils manage emotions, develop coping strategies and make positive behaviour choices.
Build trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
Encourage engagement with learning, attendance and positive relationships.
Support pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and barriers to education.
Work alongside teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent support and promote positive outcomes.
About You
We are looking for a calm, empathetic and resilient Behaviour Mentor who can build positive relationships with children and young people across primary and secondary age groups.
Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or additional needs would be beneficial. Previous experience in alternative provision, mainstream schools, specialist SEN settings, youth work or relevant care settings is also welcomed.
You should be confident managing challenging situations, maintaining appropriate boundaries and encouraging pupils to develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
Why Apply?
Full-time, Monday to Friday opportunity.
Work with pupils aged 5–16 in an alternative provision setting.
Make a meaningful difference to young people facing barriers to mainstream education.
Gain valuable experience in behaviour support, SEMH and alternative provision.
