Part Time Financial Controller Ad Tech | Central London, hybrid | £75,000 to £85,000 FTE, pro rata | 2 days a week, flexible hourA profitable, investor backed ad tech business is making its first dedicated finance hire. You’ll take finance off the founder’s desk and build a modern, automated function, working alongside an experienced fractional CFO. The hours are flexible enough to fit school days, and there’s real room to grow.

The business A profitable and fast growing ad tech company that has built something new in a complex, tightly controlled market. It has recently brought in investment and has ambitious growth plans. The team is small and close, moves quickly, and expects everyone to challenge how things are done. People here look after each other, and the whole team gets mental health days. The opportunity This is the first dedicated finance hire. The founder has run finance himself until now and is ready to hand it over to someone who can take the lead. The processes were built at speed and they work, but there’s a lot of room to make them simpler, smarter and more automated. You’ll have the freedom to shape the function and make it your own. What you’ll do Order to cash Work with sales to automate invoicing from signed deal to invoice Own credit control, collections and debtor reporting, and bring down DSO Handle ad tech billing, including agency contracts and multi currency invoicing Purchase to pay Take over accounts payable, approvals and payment runs from the leadership team Introduce clear approval workflows and payment controls Rebates Oversee customer, agency and partner rebate arrangements Run monthly accruals and reconciliations, and report on the impact on margin and cash Cash flow and planning Build and maintain a rolling 13 week cash flow forecast Support the fractional CFO with budgets, reforecasts and board reporting Systems and controls Make the most of Xero and introduce add ons and integrations where they add real value Strengthen month end close, reconciliations and controls What you’ll bring Essential ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience Strong, hands on Xero experience A track record of owning AR and AP in a growing business Experience building a 13 week cash flow forecast The confidence to take the lead and advise a founder Desirable Rebate or volume incentive accounting Ad tech, media or agency billing experience Experience with Xero add ons such as Dext or Hubdoc A background in VC or PE backed businesses The person Confident, empathetic and reliable. You naturally look at a process and think “there must be a better way”. You’re happy to roll up your sleeves when something needs doing, and you can adapt to very different personalities across a small team. Different backgrounds and ways of thinking are actively welcomed. Flexibility The role is the equivalent of two days a week, and how you make that up is flexible. Three shorter days within school hours works just as well as two full days. For the first couple of months they’d like you in the office regularly to learn how everything works, and after that it’s hybrid and largely your call. The founders built this business while raising young children, so they understand what flexibility really means. There’s scope for the role to grow in hours and seniority over time if you want it to.
