Kitchen Assistant – Part-Time

We are recruiting a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support a busy day-service catering team in Nottingham, NG4. This part-time, term-time role is ideal for someone with catering, school kitchen, care home, canteen or food-service experience who takes pride in excellent hygiene, safe food preparation and friendly customer service.

What You'll Do

• Prepare vegetables, snacks, and other simple food items according to menus and instructions.
• Serve meals in suitable portions and help ensure food is presented to a high standard.
• Wash pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery.
• Clean kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas according to cleaning schedules.
• Set up and take down tables and chairs for daily meal service.
• Support dining-room duties and provide a helpful service to customers.
• Report equipment faults and assist with stock ordering when required.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality, a commercial kitchen or food service.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safe food storage and stock rotation.
• Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification or another relevant catering qualification.
• COSHH and risk-assessment awareness relating to kitchen chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a respectful, customer-focused approach.
• High standards of personal hygiene, reliability and attention to detail.
• Basic Microsoft skills are desirable.

Compliance Requirements

• Enhanced DBS check, with child barring list checks.
• Three years of references, including your current or most recent employer.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete the mandatory pre-screening and registration process.
• Willingness to wear appropriate protective clothing, headwear and footwear.
