Freight Forwarder

About the role

Our client is a freight forwarding business with a small, close-knit team in Newcastle. They are looking for a Freight Forwarder to look after their customers and keep shipments moving smoothly.

This role suits someone with strong customer service experience who understands the basics of freight forwarding. You will be the first point of contact for customers. You will keep them updated, solve problems quickly and work closely with the operations team.

Full training will be given. It is a great chance to grow your freight knowledge in a supportive, hands-on office.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for customers by phone and email
• Handle quote requests, bookings and shipment enquiries
• Keep customers updated on shipment progress, delays and changes
• Liaise with carriers, hauliers, agents and the operations team
• Check and process shipping paperwork accurately
• Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally
• Keep systems and customer records up to date

What our client is looking for

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Knowledge of freight forwarding, at least the basics
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn

Hours and working pattern

The role is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, based in the Newcastle office. There is no flexible working during training. Once fully trained, there may be the option to work from home one day a week.
