About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, patient and passionate SEND Teacher to join a lovely specialist setting from January.
You will be teaching a small class of just 5 students aged 11–13, with a range of additional learning needs, including learning disabilities and Down syndrome.
This is a really lovely class of young people who benefit from a nurturing, understanding and consistent approach. Some students may display behaviours that challenge, so we are looking for someone who can remain calm, build positive relationships and create a supportive learning environment.
The role involves delivering the National Curriculum, carefully adapted and broken down to suit each student’s individual abilities, learning styles and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons based on the National Curriculum.
- Adapt learning activities to meet a range of learning disabilities and additional needs.
- Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Support students with emotional regulation and behaviours that challenge using positive, consistent approaches.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other professionals.
- Monitor progress and celebrate individual achievements, however big or small.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential.
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, ideally including learning disabilities or Down syndrome.
- A friendly, approachable and nurturing personality.
- Plenty of patience, empathy and a genuine passion for SEND education.
- Confidence adapting the curriculum to different abilities.
- A calm and positive approach to behaviour management.
- Someone who enjoys making learning creative, engaging and accessible.
Why Apply?
- Small class of just 5 students, allowing for personalised teaching.
- Lovely students and the opportunity to make a genuine difference.
- Half-day Fridays, offering a great work-life balance.
- Supportive specialist learning environment.
- Temporary-to-permanent opportunity for the right candidate.
- January 2027 start.
If you’re a caring, enthusiastic SEND Teacher who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, we’d love to hear from you!
