The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning when teaching staff are absent. You will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain focused, engaged and on task while following the work set by teaching staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring students complete assigned work.
• Maintaining a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Managing behaviour effectively in line with the school's policies.
• Supporting students with their learning and encouraging positive attitudes towards education.
• Reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
• Upholding the school's high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally in a school setting.
• Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Is confident supervising groups of students independently.
• Is adaptable, organised and able to use their initiative.
• Communicates effectively with students and colleagues.
• Has a positive, professional approach and a genuine interest in education.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or in another school-based role would be advantageous. Candidates with relevant transferable experience and the confidence to manage a classroom are also encouraged to apply.
