About the role

Technical Paraplanner | Edgware | Salary up to £80,000, hybrid working

A well-established financial planning firm in North West London are looking for a technically strong Paraplanner to join their team. This isn’t a role where you write reports in isolation. You’ll work alongside a team of senior, highly regarded planners serving a sophisticated, high-net-worth client base. You’ll be involved in client conversations and help shape detailed, bespoke financial plans from start to finish.

If you enjoy technical complexity, want your work to be seen and valued, and are looking to keep progressing your qualifications, this is a rare opening.

What you’ll be doing

  • Working directly with the Financial Planners, and with their clients where appropriate, to understand objectives, circumstances and planning needs
  • Researching and producing in-depth financial plans covering retirement, pensions, investments, tax, estate planning and intergenerational wealth transfer
  • Building and interpreting cashflow models to test strategies and illustrate outcomes
  • Analysing complex cases, including multiple pension arrangements, defined benefit transfers, trusts, business owner planning and tax-efficient structuring
  • Producing clear, compliant suitability reports that turn technical detail into advice clients can act on
  • Attending client meetings to support the planner and contribute technical insight
  • Keeping up to date with legislative, regulatory and market changes, and sharing that knowledge across the team

What you’ll bring

  • Proven paraplanning experience within an advice-led IFA or wealth management firm
  • A strong technical grounding in pensions, investments, tax and estate planning
  • Diploma-level qualified (or well progressed), with an appetite to go further towards Chartered status
  • Confidence working with high-net-worth clients and complex cases
  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to make technical detail clear and personal
  • A meticulous, inquisitive approach. You ask “why”, not just “what”
  • Experience with cashflow modelling software and research platforms is highly desirable

What’s on offer

  • Close, collaborative working with experienced, high-calibre planners
  • Full support with professional studies, including exam fees and study time, towards Advanced Diploma and Chartered status
  • Real exposure to clients and complex planning, with no back-office isolation
  • A clear development pathway for those with ambitions to progress
