40hrs pw Monday to Friday with occasional weekends 9am - 5:30pm

Are you an experienced Cleaning, Facilities, Accommodation or Hospitality leader who takes pride in creating exceptional environments and delivering outstanding service?

At Sodexo, we're looking for a proactive and people-focused Commercial and Cleaning Manager to lead cleaning and operational standards across four vibrant student accommodation sites supporting the Northumbria University community.

This is more than a cleaning management role. You'll be responsible for creating welcoming, safe and spotless living environments where students can thrive, while leading, developing and inspiring a dedicated team to deliver consistently high standards.

About the Role

As Commercial and Cleaning Manager, you'll:

• Lead and motivate cleaning teams across four student accommodation sites.
• Drive exceptional cleaning, presentation and hygiene standards throughout the portfolio.
• Manage staffing, rotas, absence cover and resource planning.
• Carry out inspections, audits and quality checks to ensure standards never slip.
• Champion health, safety and compliance across all areas of responsibility.
• Take ownership of cleaning operations within the on-site Common Ground Café.
• Support student arrivals, departures, commercial stays and key university events.
• Use digital cleaning management systems to improve efficiency, accountability and service delivery.
• Work closely with colleagues, university stakeholders and contractors to continuously improve the student experience.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience managing cleaning, facilities, housekeeping or hospitality operations, ideally across multiple sites.
• Strong people management skills with experience leading, motivating and developing operational teams.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage changing demands.
• Good understanding of cleaning standards, Health & Safety and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Confident using digital systems, reporting tools and performance management processes.
• A proactive, hands-on leader who takes ownership, maintains high standards and drives continuous improvement.
