About the role
End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage of an apprenticeship. It is an impartial assessment of whether an apprentice has developed the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in their chosen apprenticeship standard.
Assessments are designed by employers in the sector and are conducted by independent bodies known as Assessment Organisations (AOs).
We have been recognised by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) as a regulated Assessment Organisation for apprenticeships in Engineering.
Ofqual regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and will be carrying out external quality assurance for the majority of apprenticeship standards in England.
As an Assessment Organisations, we are responsible for ensuring a rigorous EPA process and carrying out Professional Engineering Competence Assessments.
The IET is approved to assess the following apprenticeship standards:
Level 6- ST0151 - Embedded Electronic Systems, Design and Development Engineer
- ST0316 - Rail Engineering Advanced Technician
- ST0662 - Automation and Controls Engineering Technician
- ST0841 - Engineering Manufacturing Technician
- ST0154 - MOET (Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician)
This standard is closed to new starters and has been replaced by ST1426 / ST1143 Engineering maintenance technician - single discipline and dual discipline.
- ST0164 - Engineering Design Technician
- ST0315 - Rail Engineering Design Technician
- ST0318 - Rail Engineering Technician
- ST0432 - Engineering Fitter
- ST0457 - Engineering Technician
