Contract: Permanent | Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday – Thursday | No Fridays!
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent General Building Operative in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Join our inclusive and supportive Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) team, helping to maintain one of the UK's most unique and highly regulated operational environments. Working within the nuclear sector, you will play an important role in supporting safe, secure and compliant facilities that underpin critical national infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is looking for long-term career stability within a structured environment. You'll be part of a close-knit team delivering essential facilities management services while benefiting from a great work-life balance with a four-day working week.
What You Will Do
- Deliver a range of general building maintenance and repair activities across site facilities.
- Support skilled tradespeople with maintenance, refurbishment and improvement works.
- Carry out general DIY tasks including decorating, furniture assembly, minor repairs and installation of site fixtures.
- Escort contractors and provide professional support to colleagues and stakeholders across site.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, including grounds maintenance, litter picking and landscaping activities when required.
- Identify and report defects, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
What You Will Bring
- A positive and proactive approach to work with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Good organisation and time management abilities.
- Practical experience of DIY activities and general building maintenance.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and compliance standards.
- Experience within facilities, construction or maintenance environments is desirable.
If you have most but not all of these skills and experiences, we encourage you to apply. We may be able to offer development and training to support your continued growth with Amey.
Security Clearance & Site Environment
As this role is based within a nuclear restoration site, successful candidates will be required to work within controlled environments and comply with strict site procedures. Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance will be required for this role. Amey will support successful candidates through the clearance process where applicable.
