A secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to provide classroom cover when teachers are unavailable. This is a role suited to someone who can take charge of a classroom, follow prepared lesson plans and maintain high expectations while ensuring pupils continue with their learning. The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining continuity of learning across different classes and subjects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:Taking responsibility for classes across a variety of subjects and year groups.Delivering work and instructions provided by the class teacher.Setting clear expectations around behaviour, effort and conduct.Managing classroom behaviour calmly and consistently.Encouraging pupils to remain focused and complete the work provided.Providing appropriate guidance where pupils need clarification.Monitoring progress and highlighting any concerns to relevant staff.Providing feedback following lessons where required.Creating a classroom environment that is orderly, respectful and focused on learning. What we're looking for...The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils and be comfortable managing a classroom independently.Classroom confident - You can establish authority quickly while maintaining positive relationships with pupils.Adaptable - You are comfortable moving between different subjects, year groups and classroom situations throughout the day.Reliable and professional - You understand the importance of safeguarding, punctuality and representing the school positively.A formal teaching qualification is not required, although previous experience within a secondary school, education setting or similar environment is essential.
