SEMH Support Assistant - Ellesmere Port£105 per day PAYE | Full-time | Long-term opportunityTradewind Recruitment are looking for a resilient, confident and compassionate SEMH Support Assistant to work in a specialist setting in Ellesmere Port.This is a challenging but genuinely rewarding environment, supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, behavioural difficulties and, in many cases, experiences of trauma, instability or significant barriers to education.The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries and remaining calm in difficult situations. You'll be supporting students who may struggle to regulate their emotions, engage with learning or trust adults, so consistency and patience are essential.The role will involve:Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groupsHelping students regulate behaviour and emotionsDe-escalating challenging situations calmly and appropriatelyBuilding positive, trusting relationships with young peopleSupporting engagement with lessons and wider school lifeWorking closely with teaching staff and pastoral teamsWe're particularly interested in people with experience in areas such as:SEMH, SEN or alternative provisionYouth work or mentoringResidential care or support workChildren's homesMental health or community supportSports coachingPrison, probation or policing backgroundsAny role involving challenging behaviour, vulnerable young people or strong relationship-building skillsTransferable experience will absolutely be considered, so you do not necessarily need previous school experience.What's on offer:£105 per day PAYE - no umbrella companyFull-time, long-term work in Ellesmere PortAccess to The National College for training and CPDSupport from an experienced SEND recruitment consultantOpportunity to gain valuable experience within SEMH educationThis role would suit someone who is resilient, emotionally intelligent and confident without being confrontational.
