This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate SEND professional to play a key role in supporting children with additional needs during the crucial early years of their education.
Working three days per week from November, you will lead the nursery’s SEND provision, ensuring every child receives the appropriate support to thrive in a nurturing and engaging environment.
The Role
- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the nursery.
- Identify and assess children with emerging or identified additional needs.
- Develop, implement and review personalised support plans and targets.
- Work closely with practitioners, parents, external agencies and local authority professionals.
- Ensure EHCP applications, reviews and SEND documentation are completed to a high standard.
- Provide guidance and support to nursery staff to promote inclusive practice.
- Monitor children’s progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Ensure the nursery remains compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory guidance.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is working towards it (essential where required under current regulations).
- Has previous experience as a SENDCO or within a SEND leadership role, ideally within an Early Years or nursery setting.
- Excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (0–25 years).
- Experience supporting children with a range of additional needs including ASD, speech and language needs, developmental delay and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families and multi-agency professionals.
- Organised, proactive and passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children.
What We Offer
- Competitive weekly pay.
- Dedicated consultant providing ongoing support throughout your placement.
- Opportunity to work within a supportive and inclusive nursery team.
- Long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent position.
- Free CPD and professional development opportunities.
