We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef to join the team at The Floating Bridge, Dartmouth – a traditional pub in a beautiful South Devon location.

About The Floating Bridge

The Floating Bridge is part of Quality Inns of Gloucestershire, a family-run pub group with 15 unique pubs across Gloucestershire and Devon.

We are not a traditional chain. Each of our pubs has its own character and community, but they all share the same focus: good British pub food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere.

At The Floating Bridge, we are looking for a Head Chef who enjoys cooking proper pub food, using good-quality ingredients and creating dishes that fit naturally with the character of the pub.

The Role

As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, working closely with the owner managers and front-of-house teams to deliver a consistent, high-quality food offering.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the kitchen team
• Planning and developing menus suited to the pub
• Overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations
• Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
• Managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships
• Monitoring food costs and working within agreed GP targets
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
• Training and supporting kitchen team members
• Working closely with the pub management and front-of-house team to ensure a great experience for our customers

What we're looking for

We're looking for a hands-on, experienced Head Chef who understands what makes a great traditional pub kitchen.

You will ideally have:

• At least 2 years' experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen manager in a busy pub or managed house
• Strong knowledge of traditional British pub food
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene
• Experience managing and developing a kitchen team
• Good knowledge of stock control and food GP
• A passion for fresh, good-quality ingredients
• The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy kitchen
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A genuine passion for good food and hospitality

The Floating Bridge is located on Coombe Road, Dartmouth, Devon, TQ6 9PQ.

Due to the rural location of the pub, reliable transport is essential, as public transport options can be limited.
