Cover Supervisor

Staff for Education is currently recruiting for a full-time, long-term Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive Secondary School in the Sutton-in-Ashfield area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, graduate or aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, ensure students remain engaged with their learning, and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Supervising classes across a range of subjects using lesson plans provided by teaching staff.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
• Ensuring students remain on task and complete the work set.
• Providing guidance and support where appropriate, without the expectation of planning or marking lessons.
• Reporting back to teaching staff on student progress, behaviour and lesson outcomes.
• Supporting the wider school community and contributing to a positive learning environment.

We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational or youth setting.
• Is confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment.
• Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Is adaptable, organised and able to think on their feet.
• Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one.
• A degree or previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential.
