Contracts Manager

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 + package
Projects: Commercial Developments | £500k–£5m
Travel: Sites within approximately 30 minutes of Cambridge

The Opportunity

We are working with an established and growing main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team in Cambridge.

The business specialises in the delivery of commercial developments ranging from approximately £500k to £5m, with a strong reputation for delivering quality projects and maintaining long-term client relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager looking to join a well-established business where they will have genuine responsibility and influence across a portfolio of local projects.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will oversee multiple commercial construction projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with Site Managers, clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing multiple commercial projects ranging from £500k–£5m
• Providing leadership and support to Site Managers and site-based teams
• Monitoring project progress, programme and performance
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards
• Managing client and consultant relationships
• Overseeing subcontractor performance and procurement
• Reviewing project costs, budgets and commercial performance
• Working closely with the commercial team to manage variations, valuations and contractual matters
• Identifying and managing project risks
• Attending client and project meetings
• Supporting pre-construction and tender activities where required
• Ensuring company procedures, policies and health & safety requirements are maintained
• Reporting project performance to the senior management team

About You

We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager or experienced Senior Site Manager looking to take the next step within a main contracting environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience managing commercial construction projects
• Experience working for a main contractor
• A strong understanding of project delivery from pre-construction through to completion
• Experience managing multiple projects and site teams
• Strong knowledge of construction programmes, subcontractor management and project controls
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of contract administration
• Excellent communication and client management skills
• The ability to lead, motivate and develop site-based teams
• Relevant construction qualifications such as an NVQ, HNC/HND or degree would be advantageous
