SEND Teacher

We are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to work in a First School based in Droitwich. This SEND Teacher role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with a child in Year 4 who is a new starter to the school and requires a high level of individualised support.
 

The child has a range of additional needs and is currently working at a lower level of learning. They have experienced trauma in their background and require a nurturing, patient, and consistent approach to their education. Speech and language is a key area of need, so the successful candidate will need to be confident supporting communication and language development alongside their wider learning. Play-based learning will also be an important part of the role.
 

The school is seeking an experienced teacher who can build a positive and trusting relationship with the child and provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the school and wider team to support the child's individual needs, helping them to develop their confidence, communication, independence, and engagement with learning.
 

This role is initially mornings only and will start as soon as possible, continuing until at least Christmas with the potential for the role to be extended. The working hours will be during the morning school session.
 

Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Have recent experience working as a teacher within a Primary School setting.

• Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and/or additional needs.

• Have experience working on a 1:1 basis with children who require a high level of individualised support.

• Have a good understanding of SEND and be confident adapting learning to meet an individual child's needs.

• Have experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs.

• Be confident using play-based and child-centred approaches to learning.

• Be patient, nurturing, and able to build a strong, positive relationship with a child who may have experienced trauma.

• Be confident managing challenging or complex needs in a calm and consistent manner.

• Have a DBS registered on the Update Service or one that was issued within the last 12 months.

• Be able to provide a minimum of two excellent references.

• Have recent UK school-based experience.
