SEND Teacher

Flourish Education are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a Primary School in the Harborne area on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will work closely with two experienced additional adults to support pupils with a range of complex communication and learning needs. This role would suit a confident SEND Teacher with strong knowledge of communication and language development and experience working within specialist or enhanced provision settings.

The school is looking for a teacher who can confidently support pupils using a range of communication, sensory and regulation approaches that are embedded throughout the provision and referenced within pupils’ EHCPs.

Responsibilities as a SEND Teacher:

· Leading teaching and learning within the SEND classroom provision
· Supporting pupils with complex communication and learning needs
· Working closely with support staff and wider school teams
· Delivering personalised and multisensory learning approaches
· Supporting pupils’ communication, emotional regulation and engagement
· Following EHCP targets and school procedures

The required skills and experience for this SEND Teacher role:

· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
· Strong understanding of communication and language development
· Experience using visual support systems including visual timetables, symbols, Now and Next boards and communication boards
· Knowledge or experience of Makaton, AAC strategies and Intensive Interaction
· Experience using approaches such as SCERTS, Colourful Semantics, Attention Autism and Zones of Regulation
· Understanding of multisensory teaching approaches and sensory regulation strategies
· Ability to break learning into manageable chunks using repetition and structured support
· Experience supporting pupils with complex SEND needs
