Are you a brilliant administrator who loves keeping things organised, making sure nothing gets missed and helping a busy team run smoothly?
If so, this could be a fantastic opportunity to join Greenhead College in this newly created role.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, accurate, approachable and great at administration. You do not need previous experience of working in HR or in education – what matters most to us is that you have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload professionally and efficiently.
You will be joining a friendly and experienced HR team, providing day-to-day administrative support across a broad range of activities.
This is an ideal role for an experienced administrator who would like to broaden their skills and gain experience within HR, with plenty of support from colleagues around you.
A role that can work around you
One of the real benefits of this opportunity is the working pattern.
The role is term-time, working 39 weeks during the academic year plus two additional weeks during the summer holiday period.
You will work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, but we can offer flexibility around your exact daily hours. Your five working hours each day simply need to fall between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm.
For example, you could work 9.15 am to 2.45 pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break, although we are happy to discuss different working patterns with the right candidate.
We hope this flexibility will make the role particularly attractive to people looking for a position that fits well around family commitments, caring responsibilities, other priorities or simply seeking a great work-life balance.
What will you be doing?
No two days in HR are quite the same. You will provide administrative support across a wide variety of activities, such as:
- supporting the recruitment and selection process;
- preparing new starter and onboarding paperwork;
- maintaining accurate and confidential employee records;
- arranging meetings and managing diary arrangements;
- taking accurate meeting minutes and notes;
- supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and staff benefits;
- preparing correspondence, spreadsheets and HR records; and
- generally helping the HR team to provide a responsive and professional service to colleagues across the College.
What are we looking for?
Above all, we are looking for a great administrator.
You will need to be someone who:
- is organised and enjoys keeping on top of detail;
- takes pride in producing accurate work;
- can manage different priorities and deadlines;
- communicates confidently and professionally;
- is comfortable using systems, email, Word and Excel;
- understands the importance of confidentiality;
- enjoys helping others and providing a good service; and
- works well as part of a team while also being able to use their own initiative.
Previous experience in HR, recruitment or education would be helpful, but it is absolutely not essential.
Why Greenhead College?
Greenhead College is situated on a welcoming and attractive campus close to Huddersfield town centre, adjacent to the picturesque Greenhead Park. We are just a short drive from the M62 and within walking distance of both the train and bus stations, making the College highly accessible for applicants from across the Northwest and Yorkshire.
Approximately 3000 students attend the College studying predominantly A Level courses across 35 subjects. The academic structure of the College is based on Heads of Curriculum who are subject specialists. The College also employs a team of Tutors, experienced in pastoral care, careers guidance and trained in Mental Health First Aid. Alongside their academic studies, students benefit from a rich extra-curricular enrichment offer and a wide range of project and work placement opportunities through our Step Into Your Future scheme.
Our commitment to student and staff well-being is reflected in our achievements. In July 2024, we received the Further Education Mental Health Gold Award in recognition of the comprehensive support we provide. In March 2025, OFSTED once again graded the College as ‘Outstanding’ in all six key areas, and as making a strong contribution to skills needs, identifying no areas for improvement. Most recently in April 2025, we were honoured to be named Further Education College of the Year at the Educate North Awards. These accolades highlight the dedication and high standards demonstrated by our students and staff across all roles.
The College is a great place to work, with a warm, inclusive atmosphere existing between students and staff. Our staff are recognised for their hard work and are encouraged to inspire each another, and to develop and grow. We are proud to have a strong and able College Leadership Team, and a highly experienced Board, who work collaboratively to deliver the College’s purpose and principles, and strategic priorities.
This is an exciting time to be joining us. We were one of only 50 schools and colleges nationally to receive multi-million-pound funding for a new four-storey science building, which opened in November 2023, with the final building work and landscaping completed in August 2025. We continue to invest in our facilities and have an ambitious capital investment plan spanning the next five years.
