A well-established and highly respected specialist litigation firm is looking to recruit an experienced Costs Draftsman to join its growing in-house costs team.

The firm has built a strong national reputation representing tenants in housing condition and housing disrepair claims, helping clients hold landlords accountable for substandard living conditions. The Role

You will work closely with solicitors and fee earners across the litigation team, preparing and negotiating legal costs following successful case outcomes. The role sits within a well-structured in-house costs department and offers strong long-term progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Drafting and negotiating legal costs in housing disrepair and breach of contract claims
• Preparing costs schedules for Environmental Protection Act (EPA) statutory nuisance matters
• Liaising with solicitors and fee earners regarding costs on concluded files
• Assisting with the recovery and negotiation of legal costs
• Supervising and supporting junior costs paralegals
• Contributing to the smooth operation of the in-house costs team

About You

The firm is keen to hear from candidates who:

• Have around 2+ years’ experience in legal costs drafting
• Are confident working in a fast-paced litigation environment
• Possess strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Have experience with costs management software (Costs Master preferred)
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders

Experience in costs enforcement or damages recovery would be beneficial but is not essential.
