About the role

Permanent - Full time

Location: Station Road, Barkingside IG6 1NB

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Youth Justice Officer to join the Redbridge team. In this role, you will not only demonstrate sound knowledge of Asset Plus and Prevention & Diversion assessments but also bring a strong commitment to relational work—building trusting, meaningful relationships with children, young people and their families to support positive outcomes and lasting change. You will play a key role in developing and implementing effective solutions to youth crime, including working with children living away from home; providing courts robust alternatives to custody, where possible; children & young people leaving custody, serious youth violence and children who have contextual safeguarding concerns.

To thrive in this position, you will need:

  • Outstanding communication and assessment and report writing abilities, enabling you to design and implement targeted, bespoke intervention plans using the most appropriate resources, with a relational approach at their core.
  • A working knowledge of research and best practice relating to Contextual Safeguarding, Desistance Theory, Trauma-Informed Practice, and the drivers of disproportionality within youth justice.
  • Solid understanding of court processes and case management, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records in line with both national and local standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage complex and challenging work, meeting tight deadlines effectively.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic multi-agency team.
  • A flexible approach, with the willingness to undertake some evening and weekend work as required.

At Redbridge, we are passionate about supporting our staff to develop professionally. We offer regular supervision with line managers, a range of professional development opportunities, and a supportive environment in which to grow your skills and advance your career.

If you are dedicated to working with children and young people, value relational practice, and are committed to addressing disproportionality in youth justice, we would love to hear from you.
