About the role

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Location: Oxford

Our client, an independent small animal referral centre specialising in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery, is looking for a friendly, dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its supportive clinical team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern referral facility alongside experienced veterinary professionals, delivering a high standard of patient care in a collaborative environment.

The Practice

The purpose-built facility is equipped with four consulting rooms, two operating theatres, a CT scanner, digital X-ray, an in-house laboratory and separate wards for dogs and cats.

The team is committed to providing exceptional clinical care while maintaining a personal approach to patients, their owners and referring veterinary practices.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Anaesthesia monitoring and management across a variety of patients
  • Assisting with surgical procedures as a scrub nurse
  • Providing high-quality inpatient care
  • Managing patient admissions, discharges and post-operative nurse appointments
  • Supporting the processing of referral bookings
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and assisting with pricing and scheduling using the practice management system

Ideally, you will have experience with anaesthesia, including patients undergoing emergency or critical care surgery. However, comprehensive training and support will be available for nurses looking to develop their confidence and skills in this area.

This role offers a 40-hour working week, with a rotational night shift to provide care for surgical inpatients.

What’s on Offer?

  • No weekend work
  • No routine out-of-hours shifts, apart from the rotational inpatient night-care responsibility
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • Funded CPD with opportunities for continued professional development
  • Company pension
  • Employee discount
  • Free on-site parking

Requirements

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Current RCVS registration
  • A compassionate, patient-focused approach
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • An interest in referral nursing, orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery

If you are an RVN looking to develop your skills within a supportive, independent referral environment, this could be an excellent next step in your veterinary nursing career.
