Battery Storage Electrical Engineer

Astute’s Renewables team is proudly partnered with an international business who provide a variety of services to the global energy storage / battery storage / BESS market. They invest in, manage, develop and originate battery storage projects and we’re looking to add some Field Service Engineers to their team by recruiting the first two people in Sicily, near Catania.

The Field Service Engineer role comes with a salary of up to €50,000, depending on experience, with real potential for personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the O&M Manager you will:

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on a single BESS site, with more sites likely in the future
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues, conduct warranty repairs and commissioning works too
• Perform firmware and software system upgrades
• Provide diagnostic and technical phone support to clients and customers if and when required
• Conduct risk assessments and look to implement any necessary safety measures
• Where applicable, assist the in-house development team with hands on knowledge and advice through the development phases of projects
• Inspect equipment and carry out regular capacity tests
• Log all activity on internal system
• On occasion, but flexible to travel internationally for business need, but this is relatively limited due to them already having an international workforce
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• At least a year in grid scale solar or BESS operations and maintenance
• PAV/PES CEI 78-17 electrical qualification
• MV or HV experience would be preferred
• Experience in servicing or maintaining inverters and transformers is preferred
• Italian driving licence
• A health and safety qualification would be preferred but not essential
• Be able to speak both English and Italian
