About the role

Description

Do you have the patience, empathy, and passion to help every young person reach their potential?

Educate Group is looking for caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated ALN Teaching Assistants to join our team and work across schools in Wrexham and the surrounding areas.

If you’re passionate about supporting children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and want a role where you can genuinely make a difference every day, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether you already have experience working with ALN pupils or you’re looking to take your first step into a career in education, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience, develop your skills, and become an important part of a pupil’s learning journey.

Why Become an ALN Teaching Assistant?

Every pupil is different — and that’s what makes this role so rewarding.

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you could be supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them overcome barriers, develop their confidence, and become more independent.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Build meaningful relationships with children and young people.
  • Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Help develop confidence, communication, independence, and social skills.
  • Gain valuable experience across different school environments.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers and ALN professionals.
  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of additional learning needs.
  • Make a genuine difference to a pupil’s day — and potentially their future.

The Role

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide tailored support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with their individual learning needs and targets.
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities.
  • Adapting learning resources and activities to suit individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop independence and confidence.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate their emotions.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers, ALNCo/SENCOs, and other support staff.
  • Monitoring and providing feedback on pupil progress.
  • Following individual support plans and school policies.
  • Promoting safeguarding and the wellbeing of every pupil.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who genuinely care about helping young people succeed.

You could be an experienced Teaching Assistant, an aspiring teacher, a graduate, a youth worker, or someone looking for a rewarding career change.

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Patient, caring, and empathetic.
  • Positive and enthusiastic.
  • Confident building relationships with children and young people.
  • Adaptable and able to respond to individual needs.
  • Calm and confident when managing challenging situations.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Passionate about inclusion and helping every pupil achieve their potential.

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly experience supporting ALN, but it is not essential for every opportunity.

A relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or similar is desirable but not essential.

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one, is required.

What We Offer

  • Flexible work to suit your availability.
  • Opportunities across a variety of schools in Wrexham and surrounding areas.
  • Competitive daily pay.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant.
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent placements.
  • The chance to build valuable ALN experience.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and progress within education.
  • A supportive team who will help you succeed.
  • Referral programme.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to children and young people’s lives.

Make a Difference Every Day

Working as an ALN Teaching Assistant isn’t just about supporting a pupil in the classroom.

It’s about celebrating the small victories.

It’s helping a pupil find their confidence. Encouraging them to try something they thought they couldn’t do. Helping them communicate, build friendships, become more independent, and believe in themselves.

If you have the patience to listen, the resilience to keep trying, and the passion to make a difference, you could be exactly who we’re looking for.

Join Educate Group and start making a difference in schools across Wrexham.
