Newbury, West Berkshire Tempest Resourcing Limited School Caretaker – West Berkshire Location: Newbury, Thatcham and Calcot (near Reading) Pay Rate: Negotiable, depending on experience Hours: School hours Contract: Temporary / Ongoing DBS: Enhanced DBS required About the Role We are currently seeking a reliable, practical and hardworking School Caretaker to support a school operating across six sites in West Berkshire. The sites are located across Newbury, Thatcham and Calcot, near Reading. The successful candidate must live within a reasonable travelling distance and be able to travel between sites as required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker or facilities professional who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming school environment. Key Responsibilities * Opening and securing school premises, including lock-up duties. * Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks. * Ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained. * Conducting routine health and safety checks and reporting any issues. * Supporting site security and managing access to school premises. * Moving furniture and assisting with room setups when required. * Liaising with contractors and supporting maintenance work. * Identifying hazards and ensuring any necessary repairs are reported promptly. * Travelling between the six school sites as required. Requirements * Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Assistant or in a similar role is desirable. * Experience working within a school or educational setting would be advantageous. * A valid Enhanced DBS check is required. * Good practical maintenance and DIY skills. * A strong understanding of site safety and security. * Reliable, organised and able to work independently. * Must be based within commuting distance of Newbury, Thatcham or Calcot. * Must be flexible and able to travel between the different sites. Pay and Working Hours * Pay rate is negotiable, depending on your experience and suitability for the role. * Working hours will be during school hours. * Work will be based across six sites in West Berkshire, so flexibility and the ability to travel between locations are essential.
