About the role

The Governors are seeking to appoint a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Parent Support Advisor to join our successful and friendly school. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, have good organisational and interpersonal skills, and a thorough understanding of Wakefield’s Safeguarding Procedures. They will need experience of having worked with pupils with additional needs, particularly those with complex autism and Severe Learning Difficulties, within a school setting.

Following an outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2023 the school has further developed all aspects of provision for its pupils. The school caters for pupils from across the Wakefield District who have severe and profound learning disabilities, many of whom have complex autism. The school operates on two sites, Stanley and Castleford. The successful candidates must be willing and able to work on either or both sites as required.

The overall aim of the PSA role is to respond to early indications that children and families could benefit from additional help, providing them with tailored, personal support. Parents will be closely involved in the process of identifying appropriate support and will work in partnership with the PSA. Where a need for outside help is identified, PSAs will provide signposting and access to the relevant specialist services. The focus of the PSA role is on preventative and early intervention activities, where presenting needs are below the thresholds that trigger the involvement of specialist services and other agencies. Home visits to families are a requirement of the post and so any prospective candidate must have the ability to drive.

We strongly encourage prospective candidates to come and visit the school by arrangement by contacting the school on [phone removed] or via e-mail at: [email removed]

The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.

Completed application forms should be returned to the School by Wednesday 4th November 2026 (5pm) via email ([email removed]) or paper copies delivered to the school office.

Closing date: 04/11/26 (5pm)

Shortlisting to be completed: 05/11/26

Interview date: w/c 9th November 2026 (specific days TBC)
