General Foreman / Site Manager

Our client, a principal contractor in the water and civil engineering sector, is seeking a General Foreman / Site Manager for a contract position on a major wastewater treatment works project near Bournemouth. The role will involve supervising site operations, coordinating construction activities and supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering works in a safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervising daily site operations across the wastewater treatment works project
• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project progress
• Monitoring civil engineering and water infrastructure works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance
• Allocating labour, plant and materials effectively across the site
• Working closely with the Site Manager, engineers and project management team
• Identifying and resolving site issues to support the programme and delivery milestones
• Completing site records, inspections and progress updates as required

Job Requirements:

• Experience as a General Foreman, Site Manager or similar position within civil engineering
• Background in the water industry, wastewater treatment or utilities construction
• Strong understanding of construction methods, site coordination and civil engineering works
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a construction environment
• Ability to supervise teams and manage subcontractor activities effectively
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation
• Relevant site management qualifications, such as SMSTS, would be advantageous
