The Opportunity

ProMedical is seeking an experienced Consultant Histopathologist to join an NHS trust in the East of England on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified consultant to support the pathology department, contribute to diagnostic services and help maintain timely, high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, providing specialist histopathology expertise to support clinical decision-making and patient management.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering consultant-level histopathology services, supporting accurate and timely diagnoses and contributing to the effective running of the pathology department.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Reporting histopathology specimens and providing accurate diagnostic opinions.
• Reviewing and interpreting tissue samples to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Contributing to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings where required.
• Liaising with clinical teams to discuss findings and support patient management.
• Maintaining high standards of clinical governance, patient safety and diagnostic quality.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across pathology and other clinical specialties.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Specialist Register status in Histopathology, or relevant Consultant-level experience.
• Previous experience delivering histopathology services at consultant level.
• Strong diagnostic skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary NHS environment.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous NHS consultant experience.
• Experience contributing to MDT meetings.
• Flexibility and the ability to integrate into an established pathology team.
