Behaviour Mentor – SEN School

Location: Guildford, Surrey

Philosophy Education is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work in a specialist school in Guildford, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours and reach their full potential.

The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment where positive relationships, high expectations and personalized support are central to its approach to education.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils to promote positive behaviour, improve engagement and develop emotional resilience. You will provide guidance, encouragement and consistent support, helping pupils build confidence, develop social skills and make positive choices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and self-esteem.
  • Delivering targeted interventions to improve attendance, engagement and learning.
  • Acting as a positive role model and encouraging pupils to develop independence.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, families and external professionals.
  • Maintaining a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be caring, patient, resilient and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. You will have excellent communication skills, a positive approach to behaviour management and the ability to build meaningful relationships with pupils who may face barriers to learning.

Previous experience working in a school, special educational needs setting or a similar role supporting young people with SEMH needs would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.
  • Experience working within a specialist educational setting.
  • A rewarding role supporting pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.
  • The opportunity to develop your skills and experience within education.

If you are passionate about helping young people succeed and believe in the importance of positive relationships, consistency and inclusion, we would love to hear from you.
