About the role

Help children achieve greatness, every day.

We are looking for a dedicated Class Teacher to join Hillside Primary School, a welcoming and ambitious primary school at the heart of the Ipswich community, where every child is encouraged to feel valued, supported and inspired. As part of the Active Learning Trust, this role offers the opportunity to deliver excellent teaching, nurture a love of learning and contribute to a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. For colleagues on the Upper Pay Range, there is also scope to play a leading role in developing teaching practice and supporting others. We are seeking a teacher who combines strong classroom expertise with collaboration, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping every pupil succeed.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that engage, challenge and support all pupils.
  • Assess, monitor and adapt teaching to ensure strong progress and achievement.
  • Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment with high standards of behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support pupil development and school improvement.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including curriculum development, safeguarding and, for UPR teachers, leadership of teaching and learning initiatives.

Why Join Our Trust?

  • Belong to a compassionate and inclusive trust that values you and the role you play.
  • Join an experienced group of people that are fully dedicated to delivering the best for our children.
  • Gain access to our VivUp employee benefit system, Cycle to Work scheme and local government pension scheme.

To ensure we recruit and retain the best talent, all new employees recruited to the Active Learning Trust (leadership, teaching and support staff) will be subject to a 4 months’ probation period at the start of their employment. This policy aims to assess new employees' alignment with our culture, teaching standards, and student needs. It is designed to foster success; with regular evaluations and support mechanisms in place, helping us to identify and nurture talent.

We value diversity and welcome applications from all, including those with protected characteristics under the Equality Act.
