The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist to support an NHS cancer service in the East Midlands.
This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract with a Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00 structure, providing consistent and structured work within a busy oncology department. It is ideally suited to experienced consultants who are confident managing complex cancer patients, leading multidisciplinary discussions, and delivering high-quality oncology care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
You will play a key role within the wider cancer services team, supporting the delivery of specialist oncology care while contributing to service development and ensuring excellent patient outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver high-quality consultant-led care for patients undergoing cancer treatment
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of oncological conditions
- Lead and participate in specialist oncology outpatient clinics
- Contribute to inpatient oncology care, including patient reviews and treatment planning
- Participate in site-specific and tumour-specific MDT meetings
- Develop and oversee systemic anti-cancer treatment plans
- Work collaboratively with clinical oncology colleagues, cancer nurse specialists, surgeons, radiologists, pharmacists, and the wider MDT
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Support and supervise junior medical staff where required
- Uphold high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and evidence-based practice
What We're Looking For
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- CCT in Medical Oncology or equivalent (CESR)
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology (or eligibility)
- Significant NHS experience at consultant level or equivalent
- Extensive experience managing patients across a variety of tumour sites
- Experience participating in cancer MDT meetings
- Strong clinical judgement, leadership, and communication skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
