CNC Machinist – Programmer

£18.00 per hour | 4-day working week | Friday overtime at 1.5x

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing business for an experienced CNC Machinist – Programmer to join their engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNC professional with strong 3 and 5-axis machining, Heidenhain controls and Mastercam or Hypermill experience.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Setting and operating 3 and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Complete machine setup, including tooling, workholding, alignment and datum setting.
• Loading, proving out and modifying CNC programs.
• Creating and troubleshooting NC programs using Mastercam and/or Hypermill.
• Diagnosing machining and programming issues and making appropriate adjustments.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Inspecting components using precision measuring equipment.
• Supporting operators and apprentices with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Assisting with training and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintaining accurate setup sheets, job cards, NC programs and engineering records.
• Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to meet production requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of quality, health & safety and housekeeping.

About You

Essential:

• Minimum 7 years' experience setting and operating 3 and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Minimum 2 years' experience using Heidenhain controls.
• Minimum 2 years' experience using Mastercam or Hypermill.
• Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong machining-related problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively to deadlines.

Desirable:

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience programming, setting and operating CNC lathes or turning centres.
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior machinists/operators.

Hours & Benefits

• £18.00 per hour
• 4-day working week
• 7:00am – 5:15pm
• Friday overtime available at 1.5x pay
