We’re working with an established engineering business operating within the defence and maritime sector, who are looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join their growing team. The Role: You’ll be responsible for delivering engineering services across customer sites, onboard vessels and within the company’s facilities. Key responsibilities will include: Installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing complex maritime navigation and surveillance systems. Carrying out fault finding and diagnostics on marine electronic systems both independently and as part of a wider engineering team. Providing technical support to customers and service partners via telephone and email. Managing the repair and return of customer equipment, ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales. Maintaining accurate service documentation, including site reports, defect reports, job cards and service records. Participating in an on-call engineer rota and supporting out-of-hours requirements when required. Providing equipment familiarisation and training to customers and end users. Supporting overseas deployments and international service activities at short notice. Attending relevant OEM training courses and maintaining technical certifications. About you: We’re looking for a hands-on Service Engineer with a strong technical background in marine electronics, maritime systems or a closely related engineering environment. Ideally, you’ll have: HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. Strong knowledge and practical experience of marine electronic systems. Experience with radar, electronic chart systems, navigation aids, steering control systems or similar maritime technologies. Experience building, configuring and fault-finding PC-based systems and networks. Previous experience working within a marine, naval, offshore or similar engineering environment. Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Strong communication and customer-facing skills. A full driving licence and valid passport. The ability to travel throughout the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice. The ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
