About the role
Are you a flexible, dynamic secondary teacher seeking complete control over your schedule or looking to explore vibrant school environments across Cambridgeshire? Whether you want the total freedom and work-life balance of day-to-day cover or the stability and ongoing connection of a long-term assignment, we have flexible opportunities ready for you in Huntingdon.
We are currently partnering with a welcoming network of secondary schools, high schools, and academies in Huntingdon and across the surrounding area. We are seeking energetic, reliable QTS and QTLS teachers from all subject specialisms to provide high-quality cover across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with optional Key Stage 5 involvement).
Whether you are an experienced teacher wanting to step away from full-time planning and marking, a subject specialist open to general cover, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to gain broad classroom experience and build key relationships across local schools, we can help you tailor your ideal working week.
Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
Day-to-Day Cover: Maintain total authority over your diary. Pick the exact days you wish to work each week to suit your family life, personal projects, or studies, while gaining varied classroom experience across secondary schools.
Long-Term Opportunities: For those who prefer a consistent routine and building deeper rapport with pupils and department teams, we offer fixed-term placements spanning a term or full academic year. These positions allow you to take on core subject teaching, track progress, and become an integral part of a school community.
Key Responsibilities:
Step confidently into secondary classrooms to deliver pre-prepared work across various subjects at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, keeping pupils focused, active, and on-task.
Establish a positive, safe, and productive learning environment using clear behaviour management techniques aligned with individual school policies.
Adapt lesson delivery to meet the needs of pupils with diverse learning requirements, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Provide concise, professional handover feedback for the regular class teacher at the end of each assignment.
For long-term roles: take on full subject teaching responsibilities, including planning, assessment, tracking progress, department collaboration, and attending parents' evenings where required.
What We Look For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK equivalent).
A versatile, adaptable approach with the confidence to step into secondary subject contexts with ease.
Strong classroom management skills and excellent communication abilities.
A professional, punctual, and reliable attitude.
A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
Benefits of Working With Us:
Competitive daily rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level and role commitments.
A dedicated local consultant with expert knowledge of the secondary education sector in Huntingdon and Cambridgeshire.
Complete flexibility to set and adjust your availability as your schedule evolves.
Direct networking opportunities with top local secondary schools, frequently leading to direct contract and permanent offers.
