About the role

Security Officer (296jc) – Central London Soho Area – £40,000 + Benefits

Our client is seeking an experienced and professional Security Officer to join a growing in-house security operation based in Central London working 4 days/3 off, 4 Nights/3 off pattern

It is important to be clear that this is a Security Officer position and NOT a Close Protection (CP) role.

The position would particularly suit someone with a military or established commercial security background who enjoys working within a professional security environment and can remain calm, alert and decisive when dealing with incidents.

You will become part of an evolving security team responsible for protecting a varied portfolio of sites and assets. Working primarily from a Security Operations/Control Room environment, you will monitor activity across the organisation, assess potential risks and incidents, and take proportionate action when required.

There is considerable scope to develop your security career, working alongside experienced security professionals and subject-matter experts while gaining exposure to modern security systems, techniques and emerging technology.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring security activity across a portfolio of sites from the Operations/Control Room.
  • Assessing and triaging security incidents and determining the appropriate response.
  • Monitoring CCTV systems and responding promptly to alarms and alerts.
  • Recognising unusual activity and potential security threats.
  • Escalating incidents appropriately to senior security management and, where necessary, the Emergency Services.
  • Conducting internal and external security patrols when required.
  • Undertaking secure lock and unlock procedures.
  • Producing clear and accurate incident reports.
  • Providing comprehensive handovers between shifts.
  • Supporting the continued development of security procedures and operational capability.
  • Travelling occasionally to other London sites as operational requirements dictate.
  • Providing additional shift cover when reasonably required.

What We Are Looking For

Applicants should have previous experience within the security industry, ideally involving Security Operations, Control Room Operations, CCTV monitoring, incident management.

You will need to be comfortable making decisions independently while understanding when an incident needs to be escalated.

You should also possess:

  • A valid SIA licence – Public Space Surveillance (CCTV), Door Supervisor or Close Protection Operations licence.
  • Good understanding of security procedures, incident management and risk assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce concise and accurate reports.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using security and communications systems.
  • A calm, professional and practical approach to problem solving.
  • High standards of reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence. Candidates with up to three points may be considered.
  • Ideally, a current Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification.

Knowledge of Central London, including major routes, landmarks and areas presenting potential security challenges, would also be advantageous.

The client is looking for someone who can demonstrate the reliability, situational awareness, judgement and professional standards often developed within the Armed Forces.

Location & Working Pattern

The position is based in Central London, Soho and operates on a structured shift pattern of 4 Days – 3 Off – 4 Nights – 3 Off

The rota includes days, nights and bank holidays and is planned sufficiently far in advance to allow employees to manage their work/life commitments, and you must be able to commute into Central London for every shift as no accommodation is provided.

Starting Salary is £40,000 and the benefits include Private healthcare, 20 days’ holiday + Bank Holidays, Company pension, Life assurance, Structured learning and development as well as the opportunity to develop within an evolving in-house security operation

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Security Officer, including someone transitioning from the Armed Forces, who wants to develop a long-term professional career within corporate security rather than Close Protection.
