What type of things will I be working on?

On this 12-month industrial placement, starting September 2027, you will engage in a variety of real engineering projects, gaining valuable insights into how we develop and manufacture innovative new products using cutting-edge technologies. You will be introduced to our mechanical design tools and will have opportunities to explore various areas of Renishaw, experiencing the day-to-day operations of a world-class engineering company.

You will be mentored to develop your mechanical engineering skills and contribute to project development in areas such as:

• Mechanical Design: Including structure, material selection, stress analysis, thermal considerations, and strength assessments.
• Process Design: Learning how to assemble things effectively for optimal production.
• Dynamics: Understanding how to manage vibration, shock, and other dynamic forces.
• Manufacturing Techniques: Discovering efficient and precise methods for producing high-quality products.
• Design Verification: Gaining experience in testing new products and machines to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Mechanisms and Control: Learning how to design systems that enable reliable movement of components.

All of this work will be under the guidance of senior engineers who will help broaden and strengthen your technical and commercials skills.

Where will I be working?

This role is based out of one of our main sites near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are located in semi-rural areas, applicants must ensure they have reliable means of transport to reach the site, as public transportation options will be limited. Alternatively, applicants should be willing to relocate to the local area.

What do I need?

We’re looking for candidates currently undertaking a degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science. STEM subjects such as Physics or Maths will be considered if candidates have a demonstrable interest in coding. 

Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in Software will be strongly considered.
