Electrician

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Install, commission, test and maintain industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Carry out fault diagnosis and repair of electrical systems and controls to component level.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumps, machinery and wastewater equipment.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in the on-call rota.
• Conduct site inspections and technical surveys and compile reports for quotation purposes.
• Install and commission instrumentation, control systems and associated equipment.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics and service documentation.
• Complete service reports and maintenance records accurately using electronic systems.
• Strip, refurbish and rebuild industrial pumps, motors and associated equipment.
• Work in workshops and customer sites across the UK as required.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Build positive relationships with customers and represent the company professionally.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers and other trades to deliver project objectives.

Key Functional Competencies

You possess the following:

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical installation and maintenance.
• Electrical fault finding and diagnostic capability to component level.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Understanding of industrial control systems and automation principles.
• Knowledge of commissioning, testing and inspection procedures.
• Experience using handheld diagnostic and electronic reporting tools.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to complete technical reports accurately.
• Customer service and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work safely at height and within industrial site environments.
• Awareness of confined space working practices and requirements.
• Basic mechanical maintenance and fitting skills.

Experience / Education

You are/have:

• Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
• City & Guilds Part 1 and Part 2 or equivalent electrical qualifications.
• JIB/ECS Gold Card (Essential).
• Ideally 5+ years of practical experience working on industrial electrical equipment.
• Experience within industrial maintenance, utilities, manufacturing, wastewater or similar environments.
