About the role

Our client is a leading law firm with origins dating back to the late 1700s. Having established themselves as market leads in banking and corporate, they have grown internationally with over 700 members of staff located across offices in the UK, Middle & Far East.

Our client believes in investing in its staff, providing an onsite staff restaurant and offering a desirable benefits package which includes Holidays (buy/sell), pension, gym membership, pension etc. They also have an on-site staff restaurant.

As a Payroll Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of the firm's monthly payroll. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will be responsible for processing starters and leavers, managing payroll changes, overtime, benefits and pension updates, statutory payments, and end-of month reporting using the ADP/NGUX payroll system.

Responsibilities

  • You will also act as a point of contact for employee payroll queries, resolving a range of issues with professionalism and discretion.
  • Processing starters and leavers accurately on ADP/NGUX.
  • Resolve employee payroll queries, ranging from tax issues to system login problems.
  • Execute monthly changes and Ad-Hoc reports.
  • Manage the monthly overtime forms & balance VS the payroll system output.
  • Calculate and process monthly sickness payments in accordance with the firm's policy.
  • Issue statutory parental leave payment schedules, verifying against HMRC calculator.
  • Administer monthly benefits and pension variations within the payroll system.
  • Raise and process casual/ad-hoc employee payments.
  • Check and issue monthly HMRC/PAYE payments following the payroll commit.
  • Deliver end-of-month reporting to the benefits team.
  • Ad hoc tasks, which can be wide ranging given the small size of the team.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience using ADP/NGUX payroll platform is essential.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive data.
  • Understanding of manual calculations of Tax & NI.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HMRC statutory regulations.
  • Previous experience as a payroll administrator, preferably within the professional services sector.
  • CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification is desirable but not essential.
