Management Accountant

Overview

Debbie Burbage Recruitment are working with an established Northampton based business to recruit a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a varied, hands on role that would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of the numbers, understanding what sits behind them and producing accurate financial information to support the wider business. You will be involved throughout the month end process, working closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business, with plenty of opportunity to take ownership and continue developing your experience.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Getting underneath the numbers, investigating variances and understanding what is driving performance
• Producing insightful P&L analysis and management information that tells the story behind the figures
• Working closely with colleagues across the business, helping them understand their financial performance
• Supporting budgets and forecasts and monitoring performance against these throughout the year
• Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations as part of month end
• Looking at costs, trends and areas of performance where further analysis could add value
• Supporting cash flow reporting and helping maintain good visibility over the financial position
• Getting involved in year end, VAT and other financial reporting requirements
• Looking at existing processes and reporting and suggesting ways they could be made simpler, stronger or more useful
• Being an active member of the finance team, getting involved wherever your knowledge and experience can add value

The Candidate

You will already have good management accounting or month end experience and be comfortable taking ownership of your workload. You may be part qualified, studying towards an accounting qualification or qualified by experience. More important will be your practical experience, attention to detail and ability to understand and investigate the numbers rather than simply producing them. You will have good Excel skills, enjoy working as part of a team and be confident communicating with both finance and non finance colleagues. Remuneration

• Up to £40,000 per annum depending on experience
• Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm (office based).
• 24 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
• On site Parking, Company Pension

This role is based in Northampton and is within commutable distance of Wellingborough, Kettering, Daventry, Towcester, Rugby, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Brackley and surrounding areas.
