Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise with the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for a Mechanical Technician to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland.

The vital Mechanical Technician role comes with a salary of £46,660 + £2,500 call out allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc.
• Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
• To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
• Assisting in plant developments and projects
• Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
• To ensure the availability of plant spares

Professional qualifications

• We are looking for someone with the following:Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
• A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

• The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including, boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes etcPractical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
• Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity
