About the role
Up to £42,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to take the next step into a Head Veterinary Nurse position within an established small animal practice in Surrey.
With a new Partner now in practice, this is an excellent time to join the team. You'll have genuine autonomy to lead and develop the nursing function, influence how the practice operates and work closely with the Partner and Lead Vet as the practice continues to grow.
This could suit an established Head RVN looking for a fresh challenge or an experienced RVN ready to progress into their first formal leadership position.

The Role
As Head RVN, you'll take responsibility for the clinical leadership and development of the nursing team while remaining actively involved in hands-on nursing.
You'll work closely with the Partner and Lead Vet to maintain high clinical standards, develop the team and contribute to the efficient day-to-day running and future direction of the practice.
Responsibilities will include:

Leading, supporting and motivating the nursing team

Coaching and developing nursing colleagues
-
Delivering nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 procedures

Supporting consultations, surgery and clinical procedures
-
Patient monitoring and inpatient care
-
Managing admissions and discharges
-
Maintaining high clinical and regulatory standards

Helping develop nursing protocols and ways of working

Supporting a positive and collaborative practice culture

Contributing to the continued development of the practice
There is genuine scope to take ownership of the nursing side of the practice rather than simply stepping into an established routine.
Rota
This is a full-time position working:
-
40 hours per week
-
1 in 4 weekends
-
One 8-hour shift at the nearby 24-hour hospital every fourth weekend

Weekend shifts alternate between Saturday and Sunday

Participation in the hospital on-call rota
The hospital element provides exposure to a broader and more complex caseload while allowing you to maintain and develop your clinical nursing skills alongside the leadership responsibilities.
Facilities & Team
You'll join an established community practice supported by an experienced clinical team.
The new Branch Partner holds a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery, while the veterinary team includes additional interests in surgery, cardiology and diagnostic imaging.

About You
You must be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
